This year has been amazing!
I know I have already told you but I have to say it again. You kids are sooo wonderful!! I love both of my classes so much!!
We have had so much fun with our science this year. This week we learned more about smell. We smelled all kinds of things some smelled
good some were yucky. It was so fun to
watch their faces. Last week we also
learned a lot about apples. We learned
how they grow and learned that there are different colors. We tasted red, green, yellow and red/yellow
apples (gala) apples and learned that they all have different flavors. We made a graph on what apples they liked
best and talked about the numbers. We
then all made predictions of what would happen if we left them out. It was fun to hear their predictions. Next week we are going to learn more about balloons. What fills them up? What will happen if I let go? I will also let
them guide some of our learning with the balloons? We will try to have them come up with
questions of their own and try to discover answers to their questions. Most of the science is with my 4yr. old
class. I try to get to it in the 3 yr.
class but we don’t always have time for it. L Some days I may abandon my science plans if
they come up with a question of their own and we are able to explore their question. I want them to become thinkers and want to
explore and figure out questions.

I have sent it out late the October Calendar late. I forgot to send it out. I will try to get them out earlier from now
on. We do not
have school on Oct. 15th due to fall break. On Oct. 29th
we will have our Halloween Party.
Your child may wear their costume to school. The party will be during the last hour of
class. If you would like to come help
out I always love helpers. Please let me
know if you plan on helping out. I plan
the parties based on how many helpers I have.
The kids are always way excited
and full of energy for parties, but we always have a lot of fun. I will place a sign up paper on my door about
a week before the party for prizes and our snack.
If you ever want to observe the class feel free to come in
and watch. Then you will know what they
are singing. Parents are always welcome. Just remember most children behave different
when parents are present.
For show and tell have your child bring things that begin
with the letter we are learning that week.
I have been really good to talk about the sounds of the words.
I have been sending extra worksheets home with my 4yr. old
class. They are extra copies I made and
we can not get to all of them in class. Some weeks you may get an extra one. Sometimes we will practice our writing on lap
boards or lined magna doodles. Take the
time and practice them with your child. Encourage
them to hold their pencil correctly and write the letters from the top down. If you not sure how they need to hold it come
talk to me and I will show you. Now is
the time for them to form the habit properly.
I always tell them to hold the pencil with their alligator fingers near
the tip of the pencil.
